Eragon/Eldest thoughts

I’m midway through the book Eldest (book 2 of the inheritence trilogy) when I ran into a problem.  The war between the elves and dragons that is talked about in Eragon, was started when an elf hunter killed a dragon as food, not realizing it was an intelligent being.  In Eldest, all elves are vegetarians(bordering on Vegans) because they meditate and their magic allows them to get a deeper understanding of all living things.  Did the Vegetarian thing happen after the truce between the dragons and elves?  Or is it just an OOPS, didn’t think that through when I was writing the book.

BTW, early on in Eldest, the Roran story line  is better than the Eragon story line.  All of the story lines are pretty good by the 1/2 to 2/3 mark.

Microsoft vs. Google

I tried to send an invite from my GMail account to my Hotmail account so I could create another GMail account.  Strangely the invite email never arrived.  When I sent a second invite to my other account, I received it almost immediately.

Conspiracy Theory: Microsoft is blocking invites to GMail because they don’t want to lose the ad revenue they get off of Hotmail accounts.

May have to revise my predictions

After the elections last year I made predictions about what it would be like in 4 years. One prediction that seemed outragious to me as I was making it was that gas would be $3.38 a gallon. On the way to work I saw gas for $3.19 a gallon, so I wonder if we may hit $3.38 this year. Last Labor Day, gas was about $1.80 a gallon – so it has almost doubled in price. OUCH.

Yet I will still be going to the lake this weekend. I doubt we will take the boats/jetski’s out, but we will be going all the same.

Is looting of food/water/clothing in a natural disaster area really looting, or is it just surviving?
