Mystery At The Hospital

by Allison Hofer

The nurses and doctors were completely lost.  Earlier the nurse had told the doctor that she couldn’t find the right medicine to treat a terrible sickness.  The hospital was already busy with crutches and other equipment.  When the nurse looked in the medicine cabinet, she found noodles in the shapes of Z, X, and W.

The doctor had an idea of where to look.

Finally they looked in a cabinet that they used for food.  The medicine was hiding behind a can of alphabet soup.

“But how did it get there?” said the nurse.

“I think it was a mouse,” said a little kid.

“Why would a mouse steal medicine?” asked the nurse.

“Because he thought it was a shape of a cheese,” said the kid.

“That’s not even proper grammar,”  said the doctor.

Then the kid said, “but I was wearing a mouse suit and I was looking for a can of alphabet soup, but I couldn’t open the door, so I used a bottle of medicine to break through.”

“Oh, that explains a lot,” said the doctor.  “But wait, you said the mouse thought it was cheese.”

“But I was in a mouse suit and I wanted some cheese too, so I decided to use cheese to break through to get alphabet soup.”

“Is any of this true?” asked the nurse.

“Ummm, no.” said the kid.  “I just saw a mouse by the cabinet though.”

“Oh, you mean our hamster Fluffy?”
